Hi guys, I recently brought my yachtmaster to Classic Watch Repair (independent watch service in HK) to refinish the platinum bezel. I found that the end result/finish seems different (on the sandblasted/frosted part) compared . However, my problem is that the Yacht Master platinum bezel scratches during normal wear if it comes into accidental contact with a solid surface. I don’t want to take off my watch if I’m lifting up something or loading a heavy box into the car. As time went by it seemed harder and harder to rotate the bezel and almost impossible to rotate at this point. Without taking it in for a costly service repair, what is the safest easiest way to unlock the bezel and get it to rotate again.

Some watchmakers polish the whole bezel with no distinction between both surfaces, effectively ruining the frosted finish. Rolex have a special machine to reapply the sandblasted finish on the bezel, and then polish the raised numerals. Usually removing the bezel will unseat the ring and it stays stuck on the case side of the bezel system. It's possible that you can refit the bezel using the old ring but in doing so you can crush the silicone ring further.

Can any Yacht-Master 116622 owners comment on the susceptibility of the bezel to scratching? I'm considering they blue dial stainless/platinum version. Thanks.
