I ordered the Brixtons in my usual size 8 and a 7.5. The 8s were large in both length and width. The 7.5 fit although a smidge big. If I size down to a 7 I think the shoe would be too short. If need be I think I can always add a Dr. Scholl’s inner sole. My feet were cold when I tried on the Brixtons so that may be why they feel a little big BUT I have two issues with these: 1) they are heavier than I thought (twice heavier than the brixton loafers) - I tried these in a half size larger in the store and could have sworn they felt lighter and 2) they are rubbing on my back heel.
Maybe it's just the shape of my foot (I have a longer big toe than second toe), but 36.5 in either model my big toe grazes the tip of the shoe and I didn't want to risk that they wouldn't stretch at all in length or that my feet would swell any and be uncomfortable. When I spoke to Gucci about the Princetown mules they said they felt the size was much more flexible in this style than in others, obviously due to the open back. For your own peace of mind it would be ideal if you could try the size 39 to see if they fit, but the fit of your shoes sounds about right. In terms of sizing, the Gucci Brixton is very true to size. However, keep in mind that the best way to ensure you get the right fit is by trying them on in person or consulting with customer service.According to Gucci and many retailers’ websites, the Brixton loafers run true to size, and I’ve got mine in my regular size 7.5US/37.5EU from Nordstrom.
