Several months ago I stumbled upon ASRSPR's thread showcasing his modified 2254 with non-AC dial, PO sweep hand, PO bezel +/- PO crystal. I immediately though I MUST HAVE ONE.
It's an easy mod and you can still use the SMP insert in a SMP bezel afterwards. You can also see the lip in the 2nd shot. Both shots are with the old PO bezel I had and before the Non-AC dial.
Hard choice! I like the heft of my SS 2254.50, but sometimes the lightness of a Titanium watch would be nice. Even though I like the shine and colour of SS better, the greyish matte titanium makes it look tooltastic! I really like the big . Anyone with the proper tools can remove the bezel and do a swap. I would recommend using the proper tool which looks like a 4 point retracting tool which safely pops off the bezel. There is just too much risk of a knife or sharp .

I’ve been thinking about a Seamaster for a while and the 2254.50 is particularly appealing to me (though I have never actually worn one). I like the speedy style bracelet, the sword hands and the black dial. I have a Longines Hydroconquest at the moment which I am wanting to upgrade.
The “SMP” was almost entirely new; while the case featured the classic lyre lugs, the wave dial, handset, scalloped bezel, helium escape valve, and bracelet were all new. It depends on which watch you like the look of better. The 2254.50 is a great looking watch and so are the new ones so you can't go wrong with either. The 2254.50 is an older watch so you wont have the applied indices, applied logo, ceramic bezel, and newer movement.
