However, a likely explanation for the color change is a chemical reaction or poor formulation in the dial paint rather than UV radiation. This black dial version shares much of its design cues from the Moonwatch, but with modern updates. The Speedmaster 38 is a Co-Axial movement, COSC - certified, column wheel chronometer. The Moonwatch is the classic Lemania based CAM movement, and the Reduced was a modular chrono movement stacked on top of a ETA movement. (1) Black and (2) gray dials in a stainless steel case, (3) black and (4) two-tone dials in a two-tone case, and the (5) Mark V, which uses a slightly different case due to the thicker 1045 automatic caliber—Omega’s version of the iconic Lemania 5100 central-minutes chronograph movement. Certainly thanks to the difference in movements - the original was a manually wound three register Lemania-based movement while this new watch features Omega's excelllent self-winding caliber 9300.
